TopYacht version 10 release Sep 2011
This is a major update. The September 2011 release probably has the most enhancements for any 12 month period!
Important note:
As additional enhancements go into TopYacht (and TES) these will be announced in the Blog section of this web site.
Summary
Alternate screen for entering Finish Times
This is called 9a and everyone that has used 9a won't be going back to 9. They like 9a!
9a takes you to StopWach 3 in manual mode (can be toggled to auto at top left).
So you can manually enter finish times using the same short cuts keys (eg + to move right) as in Step 9.
Using StopWach in manual mode lets you compare the Sail No against a list of entered boats. It also lets you store finish times against Sail Nos that TY does not recognise.
StopWach3, like it predecessors is an electronic version of a hand written finish sheet. TY does NOT use this data until you press the “Use Times” button on that screen
Email data directly from StopWach 3
9a/SW3 now includes the ability to email a csv file of finish times plus a note to any email address.
From Finish to view results with minimal button clicks.
9a also provides straight through path from finish times entry, to view results. Just press the "Use Times" button!
Processing gives you the option to confirm the Start times.
They may have changed since you set them up!
Print Preview now available
This is available on the Print button. Not sure how accurate it is. Please provide us some feedback on this.
One Click conversion of shorted Pursuit Race to HC Corrected time race.
For Pursuit Races that need shortening, TY now allows you to calculate a normal HC corrected time outcome at the press of a button. See document “Using TopYacht for pursuit races 20110328.doc” in the Ref >> HC section on the web.
Importing ALL entrants from a parent Series into a Child series
On a race by race basis you can now import the entrants as well as times and HCs.
This is set at the top of page 2 of the Series Set Up.
Caution: It imports ALL parent series entrants including all casuals!
Clean up Sail Nos in a Series
You can now…
Highlight duplicate Sail Nos in Step 6
If you end up with a Tasar AUS123 and a Contender AUS123 I recommend you strip of the AUS and make the first 123T and the second 123C. We have done this for years at events and it works very well.
Clone Sessions
If you use DataCapture mode you can now clone a session.
If you are not using DataCapture mode then maybe you should explore it?
Note: Currently when you finished cloning it shows the wrong Session ID but the clone itself has worked OK.
Sign On Sheet has Show Crew option
Sign On & Sign Off Sheet has spare/blank column for your use
You will have to manually write on the column name after printing it.
The Right Click Menu now includes..
6a Import Entrants from TES
9a Enter Finish Times Via StopWach MANUAL mode
11c View Series Scores
What right click menu? Try a right click in the left pane of the main TY screen. Also works on the view results page.
Import Finish Places
If you have a Series with a single group eg Elapsed Time, you can import the “places” from an external source. A potential use might be to import the Series scores from another Series as a race placing for this series.
Note: This now also allows you to import times from a csv where the times are formatted as “14:34:21” in a single column rather than as 3 separate columns as used in the pre existing Import Times function..
Bug in Expo HCing lower limit fixed.
It appears that for the last 10 years the lower limit has not worked as intended when using Exponential HCing.
“Nights” now available in StoWach3 - alias 9A
StopWach3/9A now includes “Nights” for races that are flagged as OverNight in Step2.
The HELP file updated
There is a major update to the help file.
Handicap method additions…
Time Pursuit HC.
This is a auto update pursuit HC system based on times rather than measured performance/race TCF.
Place Biased HCing.
This takes ‘place’ into account when adjusting HCs BUT does not simply add 3 mins, 2 mins, 1 minute but instead moves those at the top and the bottom of the fleet closer to their BCH rather than their AHC. As you get closer to the middle of the fleet the impact/change of the BCH is reduced. This has proven very successful at a number of regattas and at least one club is trailing it for normal club racing.
There is a “TY document” available on each of these.
Handicap Graphs Screen enhanced.
It is now even easier to look at two different HC graphs on the one screen. Terrific for comparing HC set ups ie set two different HCs for a series. Start them on the same HC value for each boat then compare th outcome.
Detail
Processing gives you the option to confirm the Start times.
When you process the race the following screen can be shown; depending on the configuration settings (see below).
